UNESCO RELEASE A STATEMENT CONCERNING THE SCHOOL YEAR IN CAMEEOON
TheUNESCONational commission inCameroon released a new statement on February 24th 2017, saying that no blank school year has been declared inCameroonand teachers and students should go onwith their curriculum as scheduled for the Academic year 2016/2017.See statement below:
Meanwhile, in January2017,UNESCO(UnitedNations Educational, Scientific and CulturalOrganization) Ambassador inCameroon, Mr Paul Ombiono, was interviewed on CRTV where he declared that according toUNESCO, an academic year comprises of 900 hours, and that if students don't meet up with at least 60% ofthose 900 hours, that academic year will be cancelled ALL over that particular country.In the case ofCameroon, due tothe StrikeinWest/southern Cameroon, there has been no school for over 10 weeks so far, meanwhileUNESCOcancels the Academic year if students do notattend classes for 6 weeks.Going by what the UNESCO ambassador said in that interview, no certificate issued this year in Cameroon will be valid!
